I have two passions in life - sports and politics. Actually, to me, they're one in the same.

My love of sports was shaped by family and geography. My older siblings were huge baseball fans; thus, I had a baseball glove and ball in my hands when I was barely able to walk.

Furthermore, being born in the heart of Steeler Country, I had no choice but to root for the Black and Gold. In my household, a win meant steak for dinner and coconut cream pie for desert. A loss led to tears, vomiting and a sick day at school that Monday.

My love of politics was born out of my interest in history, particularly Revolutionary War history. Early on in my teenager years, I developed a fondness for our form of government and found the foresight of our Founding Fathers to be truly remarkable.

To truly defend their ideal, I realized that I needed to educate myself not only on the Constitution and how it came about, but also on other forms of government and political theory. I came out of my self-education with a greater appreciation of our constitutional republic and a fervor to defend it against all of its detractors.

There you have it - sports and politics. Welcome to my mind. Enjoy!
