Kellea's background and experience comes from over 12 years as a professional in Higher Education. A native of Ohio, with a BA degree from Kent State University, her interest in writing started in junior high school. As a poet, editor, and freelance writer, she has had various writing experiences that include book reviews, articles on budgeting, and politics.

As a poet, Kellea emerged as a winner in several poetry slams, and appeared on a poetry CD fundraiser for the SUNY Oneonta Slam Team. Her writing has appeared in UHURU Magazine (a Kent State University publication), "The Fresh Express" Blog, the "Creating Wealth" Blog, with a column called "Bougie On A Budget", and has several blogs of her own.

  • Pardon Me
    This is a poem written on Thanksgiving Day 2010. It addresses the idea that, although this is a day to get together with family and friends, the recession and politics are still looming in the air.
