Cal Bailey
I've been involved with media on and off for nearly 15 years. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in May of 1994 and promptly went into the media business. I worked for a PBS television/radio station directing a variety of TV and radio programs. I shifted to commercial television in mid-1995, working for WCIA channel 3 in Champaign, Illinois. I spent much of my time in the "behind the scenes" area learning a lot about news and the process of covering it. I also picked up an on-air shift at a Decatur radio station WZNK 106.7FM. I eventually shifted to WMCI 101.3FM in Mattoon. I worked there (along with WCIA) for almost 5 years, finishing my tenure with a show called "Country Memories".
Outside of the media business, I worked in the banking industry, doing everything from branch management, corporate training, and of course the most important job in a bank, teller. Currently I am a college instructor in which I teach Film appreciation at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois. I have been a huge fan of movies for years and have the opportunity to teach students about this wonderful art form.
Personally, I am also a very avid sports fan, most especially Football and Baseball - which I played extensively (not always well) in my youth and even today. As for writing, I have written several short stories and two unpublished novels.
