As a born and raised Vancouverite, the flavour and culture of the west coast and mountains runs deep within me. I now live in the beautiful Okanagan area of British Columbia, on a large acreage in a custom log home my husband and I built. We live off-grid, our home powered by solar and are actively engaged in a sustainable lifestyle. Outdoor sports and activities have always played a large role in my life. I hold professional certificates in the equestrian world as a coach/trainer and my students have competed and won at the provincial and national level. I have been active in the horse world for the better part of 30 years. A lifelong passion for skiing led me to earn my instructor's certification with the Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance. Backcountry pursuits including ski touring, climbing, mountaineering, snowmobiling and hiking round out my mountain interests. On the water, sea kayaking is a favourite, with several multi-day expedition trips to the wild west coast completed. I hold a Canadian Power and Sail Squadron boating certificate and enjoy power boating during the summer with our 21' bowrider. An active gardener, organic and permaculture principles are important to me. As parents with a now empty nest, we have recently become Wwoofer hosts (World Wide Organization of Organic Farmers) to meet and enjoy the mutually beneficial assistance of Wwoofers who visit from around the world. I am not particularly good, nor interested in fashion and makeup - unless it's the latest and greatest technical gear or lip balm that defies salt water.
