Anton DeFade

Anton DeFade grew up in a musical family in Pittsburgh, he would always fiddle around with different instruments and every day objects to make sound. Anton picked up the viola at age 8 and would participate in many different camps. He then picked up the bass at age 12 and started studying under Paul Thompson, his mentor for the next 6 years. While attending CAPA High School Anton worked heavily as a freelance bassist taking advantage of practically every opportunity that came his way. Amongst other achievements, Anton received honorable mention in the 2010 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards for his composition, "Just One of Those Nights." Anton is currently living in New York City, furthering his education at the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, studying under Andy Mckee.
